The history of Colmar

Mario and Irma Colombo founded Manifattura Mario Colombo & C., a company in Monza that was strongly linked to the territory, then an important hub in the production of felt for hats and gaiters. This, in fact, is the first important product made by Colmar, a brand that was born in those years, written on a cigarette packet during a fantasy exercise among friends at the bar and encompassing the founder's last name and first name: COLombo MARio. The company grows despite difficult years such as the crisis of '29, the socio-political situation of those years such as the sanctions on Italy for the war in Ethiopia, which negatively impacts business activities. Production was converted and work overalls began to be produced with a special treated cotton, suitable, it was to be discovered, even for ski pioneers such as Leo Gasperl (Kilometro lanciato champion) in practice the first "testimonial" to whom Colmar made the Thirring, a coat that, inflating on the back, resembled a bat's wing, a colloquial nickname by which the product would be identified. Mario's untimely death left it to Irma's courage and the strength of her sons Giancarlo and Angelo to carry the company forward. The difficulties brought by the end of World War II are overcome by winning a contract to produce Saharan jackets for the French Foreign Legion. Colmar begins its relationship (which will remain until 1992) with the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI), with Pool Italia, the team's team of supplier companies, but above all with its champions, one above all: Zeno Colò. From the champion's desire to search for increasingly high-performance garments and from an intuition of Irma, who had filanca, a fabric typical of women's corsets, inserted along the hips, the "sheath Colò" was born, a jacket that would remain in the collection until the 1970s.

The innovation of garments

The Colmar collection would later expand over the years with sweatshirts, t-shirts, shoes. Low-top sneakers for sportier looks and boots and amphibians for cooler days. The Colmar ski jacket has become an icon of the brand and the world of skiing in general. Made from high-quality materials such as Gore-Tex and Thermore, the Colmar ski jacket offers protection from the elements, breathability, and comfort while providing excellent freedom of movement. But it's not just functionality that sets the Colmar ski jacket apart: its sleek and elegant design, enhanced by thoughtful and innovative details, makes it a popular garment even off the ski slopes. Over the years, Colmar has expanded its product range, offering clothing and accessories for leisure and sports. Among the brand's best-known products are padded jackets, pique polos, t-shirts and sweatshirts, as well as sneakers and scarves. All Colmar products are made from high-quality materials and with the utmost attention to detail, ensuring a high standard of quality. The design of Colmar products has always been a distinctive feature of the brand. Attention to detail and the search for innovative solutions are the characteristics that make Colmar designs unique. Colmar ski jackets, for example, are available in a wide range of colors and patterns, from the most classic to the most modern, and feature details such as waterproof zippers, invisible zipper pockets, synthetic fur interior, and high padded collars.

The footwear par excellence

Colmar shoes are distinguished by attention to detail, quality materials and attention to current trends. Collections include models for men, women and children, designed to meet the diverse needs of those who play sports or want a casual, fashionable look. Colmar sneakers are among the most loved by the young public and beyond. Characterized by a modern and colorful design, they easily adapt to any outfit, from jeans to smart pants. The uppers can be made of fabric, leather or synthetic materials, with details such as contrasting laces or visible logos. Colmar shoes for running, on the other hand, are designed to ensure maximum performance while running. The soles are made of technical and shock-absorbing materials, while the uppers are lightweight and breathable. Again, design is not overlooked, with bright, eye-catching colors. Low-top sneakers for sportier looks and boots and amphibians for cooler days.
