The Pons Quintana company was founded in 1953 in Alaior, Menorca. At first it was focused on the production of children's shoes but in 1956 it began to produce slippers. At first, Pons Quintana offered this model only for women and only later when they started producing it for men as well. In 1968 the current factory was built, incorporating more modern machinery for the assembly and manufacture of its products. By 1975, the first business contacts with Europe were made. In the early 1980s, the next generation joins the company, with its founder, Mr. Santiago Pons Quintana, remaining at the forefront. Both Italian and French designers are hired during this new project, and Pons Quintana begins to design a definitive and international product line. In 1990, with the incorporation of new technologies, the large Pons Quintana family continues to grow, with more than 100 employees in the factory. All this results in a major increase in its productivity and the consolidation of its brand. During these years of progress and prosperity is when its founder, Santiago Pons Quintana decides to retire, moving on to the next generation of entrepreneurs led by his children, Magda and Santiago, who have since been responsible for the company's current image and making bold bets for their company.
